Description
Position Title: Director of NextGen Ministry
Classification: Part-time (average of ten hours per week), Twelve month
Responsible to: VP for Academic Affairs
Purpose: To strengthen the local and global church by directing and
expanding the NextGen Ministry academic degree program of
Kingswood University
Responsibilities:
• Teach one to two of the courses within the NextGen Ministry degree, primarily at, but not
limited to, the undergraduate level.
• Assist the VPAA in the systematic review and evaluation of NextGen Ministry curriculum
and its place in the larger curriculum to develop and refine the framework and offerings
within the degree.
• Serve as the program representative and faculty advisor for students by:
o Providing guidance, support, counsel, mentoring, and friendship to students.
o Assisting in the ongoing process of program assessment.
o Actively recruiting students for the NextGen Ministry degree, as well as other
areas of study, in cooperation with the Enrolment Department.
o Assisting in student success and retention.
• Serve as a member of the Kingswood staff team by:
o Viewing the position as a ministry including investing in all students in their
Christian walk as opportunities arise in the fulfillment of the position
responsibilities.
o Attending chapel on a regular basis.
o Attending faculty and staff meeting, as well as in-service events, as able.
o Performing other duties as are necessary for academic programs and the
ongoing spiritual life of the University, as requested by the VPAA.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of a master’s degree in a related field; candidates without a graduate degree
may apply but must be willing to complete an earned degree.
• An excellent communicator, able to teach and model sound pedagogy utilizing multiple
formats, and an ability to marry theory and praxis inside and outside the classroom.
• An understanding of an ability to communicate Christian values and beliefs to students.
• A strong commitment to the Wesleyan-Arminian theological perspective and to a Christ-
centered approach to education for transformation.
