Description

Stouffville Christian School is a vibrant elementary school (JK-8) in Stouffville,
Ontario. We pride ourselves on having a well-rounded educational experience
with an excellent academic program based on Christian principles. We are
currently looking for individuals to join our team. Educational training and/or
experience are required, and candidates must be strong Christians who fit in well
with our philosophy of education. Candidates must be able to work well with
others in a team-based atmosphere.

We are currently looking for an individual who can fill the position of Vice-Principal.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB DUTIES COMPETENCIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Support Leadership:

  • Assist in addressing staff, student and family issues.  
  • Support the implementation of behavioral and academic intervention strategies
  • Conduct individual student counseling, oversee classroom behavioral conduct, and carry out student discipline.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences.
  • Initiate, oversee, and provide assistance with school events and activities
  • Assist in reviewing  student candidates, conducting interviews of prospective students and their parents, conducting school tours and speaking at events designed for prospective students and families.
  • Meet with parents to discuss academic and behavioral progress.
  • Assist with general supervision of students during arrival and dismissal lunch and class transitions.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation regarding discipline issues. Include parents as appropriate to ensure their involvement and assistance.
  • Develop and nurture the student life and gospel centered culture through weekly involvement in chapels and daily staff devotions 
  • Reinforcing the mission & vision of the school is understood and modelled by students.

Faculty and Staff Leadership:

  • Provide Christ-centered, Biblically directed, spiritual leadership for school and staff 
  • Establish staff timetables and schedules, ensuring sufficient staff coverage for safety, and care.
  • Assist principal in developing and then implementing curriculum and processes for curriculum.
  • Assist in recruiting, vetting, interviewing and onboarding applicants for school staff and substitute positions 
  • Coordinate substitute coverage for employee absences 
  • Assist in planning and leading scheduled meetings for faculty and staff during planned professional development days and staff meetings.
  • Assist the principal in planning and providing professional development opportunities for all staff 
  • Provide support for staff and family relationships
  • Responsibilities of ensuring the mission & vision are understood, taught, and displayed by staff.

Operational Duties:

  • Establish, implement and oversee  policies and procedures for the responsible management of the school; ensuring that the mission and vision statement of SCS are realized in the day-to-day operations of the elementary school.
  • Oversee the general operations of the front office, including the duties of the administrative assistant 
  • Demonstrate servant leadership in dealing with staff, students, and parents
  • Build strong relationships with students and parents.
  • Recognize the role as parents as primarily responsible for God for their children's education and be prepared to assist them in that task.
  • Maintain a high visible presence for students, staff, and parents at the school.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • when required, lead the coordination and communication with other school administrations for insight into their operations, best practices, event coordination, etc.
  • support targeted communication to the parent body (beyond the day to day comms)
  • Oversea the administrative staff and ensure smooth communication between the office, bookkeeper, and board
  • Conduct performance appraisals and give feedback to all staff (teachers and admin)

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in education educational and certified with the Ontario College of Teachers 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of elementary school teaching experience with at least 1-3 years in a leadership role. 
  • Strong understanding of early childhood and elementary education principles.
  • Meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, flexibility and optimism; poised during high stress situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and written communication skills.
  • Able to handle multiple projects independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong technology skills 
  • Acknowledge Christ as Lord and Savior and be an active member of a local evangelical church that aligns with the school’s essential beliefs
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
